Car hire is not
essential for a stay in Casa Mariposa, but if you want to venture further afield, perhaps to see the famous sand dunes in the north of the island,
or to try out some of the superb beaches almost everywhere, there are several car hire firms
with offices in Caleta.
Use the Useful Links button on the left for some websites where you can
pre-book online.
There
is also a Tourist Information Office in the centre of town (beside the
Police Station) with leaflets and brochures in English with ideas for a
day out including museums and craft centres if you feel like a break
from the sunbathing.

You
could also try a camel ride, go to the zoo, take the youngsters to the
Baku Water Park in Corralejo, visit the
uninhabited island of Los Lobos or have a go at go-karting. There are
leaflets in the villa with details and a couple of shops in the centre who
offer day trips - try
www.tourventura.info
- their shop is just a few minutes walk from the villa.
Or
you could find out more about the culture of Fuerteventura at one of the
craft centres which have opened for visitors in Betancuria, Tefia, La
Oliva and Antigua. Some information about these and other activities
is available at Fuerteventura Grapevine, a free magazine you can pick up
on the island or you can view it online at
www.fuerteventuragrapevine.net.
