Looking
for a Souvenir
.....

Rollover image
Saturday is market day in Caleta with stalls selling embroidered table
linen, wooden
carvings, clothes and more. The market is in a much better
position than it used to be as they now close off a stretch of the main street
in the town, which makes strolling round (especially with a pushchair)
much more pleasant. Do try your hand at haggling over
the price - it's all part of the fun! Corralejo, in the north of the
island, has two market days each week - perhaps you could combine this
with a visit to see the sand dunes.

There
is a wide variety of shopping available in Caleta - everything from lovely
leather goods, perfumes, jewellery and porcelain to the usual tourist
souvenirs . Of course, there are also plenty of supermarkets around
for those essential suppplies.

After a day in the sunshine, whether it was at one of the beaches or at
the shops, you might like to take the mini train back to the villa for
your evening meal. You can’t miss it – it has a huge dolphin on the
roof and at 1 Euro it is very good value. When the mini train has
stopped for the day there are plenty of taxis available which will cost
around 2 or 3 Euros to take you home.
