Although the backdrop to Caleta is known as Chipmunk Mountain, and there is a lot of building work going on up there, there is no building work near Casa Mariposa!

The mountain itself is the traditional home of the island's chipmunks.  They are little creatures similar to squirrels - who live among the rocks.  However,  it is easier to find one near the walkway which runs along the coast and links the two beach areas - although we did have one sitting on a palm tree just outside our garden wall in March 2007 - see him in one of the pictures in the photo galleries!
